Somehow, the Rangers found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory tonight, losing 3-2 to Boston, with ex-Ranger Bryan Berard scoring the game winner with 39 seconds left. This continues the abominable play by the Broadway Blueshirts, sinking them to three games below .500 (I believe).
With a $70 million payroll, the Rangers continue to show little or no effort. Yes, Rem Murray’s short-handed goal was a beauty, which put the team ahead 1-0, and Messier’s goal was also pretty, but I’d say that time is up for the team.
GM Glen Sather must be fired, and now. If, in five games, the team hasn’t shown a turnaround, coach Bryan Trottier must be fired. No more excuses. With a team of highly paid underachievers, it’s as though players feel they can come to NYC for the money and stop producing. Send them to Hartford, if you need to; I wouldn’t care one whit about whether or not they could clear waivers. Bure not scoring? Send him down.
Enough, already. I’ve had it, and all other Ranger fans should have had it by this point, too.
