New York makes the cut

The International Olympic Committee chose London, Paris, New York, Madrid and Moscow to go forward to the final vote next year.

I’m ambivalent about this, to put it mildly. The NYC bid relies on things like an as-yet-unbuilt stadium on the West Side over the train yards near Penn Station; this would be the home of the Jets as well as the Olympic Stadium.

Anyone who has driven on the West Side Highway (two lanes, each way, baby) knows how bad this stadium is going to make traffic become in Manhattan, where it’s already practically unbearable.
