Creator of Esc key dies

Via Boing Boing comes the news that the creator of the Esc key and co-creator of ASCII has died.

DALLAS (Reuters) – Bob Bemer, a computer pioneer who helped develop the ASCII coding system and the technology that led to the “escape” key on keyboards, has died at the age of 84 after battling cancer, his caregiver said on Thursday.

Remember Bemer the next time someone says to you, “I don’t see the Any key!”
