Using the soapbox

Using the soapbox

It’s been an interesting week, traffic-wise, on the site. I came into the office this morning and checked on my stats, and my jaw hit the floor — I’m even busier today than Wednesday or Thursday. My Yahoo searches for the video are through the roof, so I figured I’d use this moment of high traffic to step up ontoi my soapbox.

Not that I don’t at other times, mind you, but I figured I’d state again my feelings on the state of the country.

George W. Bush has destroyed the reputation of this country in the world. His severe agenda, driven by his sponsors in the far Right and in big business, has wrecked our economy, and removed our ability to invoke a higher moral standing. After September 11th, he had a chance to truly be what he claimed he was — a “uniter.” Instead, he acted arrogant and petulant, alienating some of our closest allies with his single-minded objective of removing Saddam Hussein.

Lies were told on so many levels, from yellowcake to the terrorism study fiasco that claimed terrorism was lower last year than it had been in a generation, when it fact, it was higher; from the energy advisors to Halliburton, that it will take tremendous amounts of work by John Kerry to repair the damage.

Not to mention the utter failure of the Shrub’s Middle Eastern policies. By invading Iraq and having no occupation plan, he’s allowed the most secular Arab nation in the world to slide into fundamentalism. Terrorism is spreading, not just in Iraq, but the world over.

Afghanistan is slipping away again.

Al Qaeda is stronger than ever.

And where, might I ask, is Osama bin Laden? He’s the man responsible for the attacks on my city back in 2001. How, in the name of all that is holy, did that man escape Tora Bora?

Impeachment isn’t enough for this administration. Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Powell, Wolfowitz, Perle — they all must be made to pay the price for their lies.

Remember that come November 2nd.

Bush Lied, People Died!
