everything old is new again

Three shows this weekend!

Three shows this weekend!

I’m totally stoked that we’re getting three shows at Mexicali Blues this weekend. I’m just hoping the venue didn’t oversell again, as they’ve done before. Mexicali is one of my favorite venues, but it gets seriously packed in there, not to mention hot. During the February ’05 and ’06 shows, when it became intolerably hot in there, the side door was opened to help cool the place off. Clouds of steam would erupt from the door, going outside. Yeah, it’s that hot in there at times.

Although it was infinitely hotter in June ’05 when they played there one very hot night. Man, that was rough, although the Mess they played for the encore more than madeΒ up for it.

Now the big question: will we get new songs? My fingers are crossed that they’re ready to debut at least a chunk of the new material. While we’ve had a lot of new songs and new covers over the past few years, a dedicated amount of new material will be great to hear.

Hope to catch some of you this weekend. Say “hi,” if you read the blog and haven’t introduced yourself yet.

  • Best wishes for new tunes! πŸ˜€

I’m hoping to wrangle someone into attending the March 1 makeup show, since I have makeup tix for two. Are you guys thinking of going?

    P.S. Kim’s knitting is kickass.

  • No, we’re not doing the makeup show as we’ll be in the Keys then. πŸ™‚

I’m really, really pumped for these shows — they’re gonna be a blast.

And yes, her knitting IS kickass! She’s making me a hat at the moment that I can’t wait to wear. You should see Lady Eleanor in its full glory — it’s enormous.

  • You said to introduce yourself, so hi πŸ˜‰

I’ll be at Mexicali Saturday night. I can’t wait!

  • Awww, the Keys… ain’t it a hard life?

Dare I ask what Lady Eleanor… is?

  • Lady Eleanor is Kim’s ginormous scarf-thing. It’s a masterpiece. πŸ™‚

Elizabeth, introduce yourself if you see me — my picture is around here somewhere. πŸ™‚

    Tonight ROCKED.

  • Will do. I’ll be the 40-something woman with LOTS of wavy brown hair dancing all night πŸ™‚

BTW – I’ve had a craving to hear “Butterfly and the Tree”. I’d love to hear it tomorrow.
