That, As They Say, Is That

I just got off the phone with Verizon, shutting off our phone service as of the end of day, today. It’s really weird changing our number after all this time. I knew it cold. All our local restaurants had us in their system under the old number, which means now I need to re-teach them the new number — which I don’t even remember! Yikes!

As Kim said, it’s like cutting a tether. Very strange. I’m sure I’ll get over it in a year or two, once I’ve memorized our new number!

  • Just curious…why didn’t you transfer your old number to your new service?

That’s a selling point the VOIP carriers use out here in the wild west…

  • Mostly because we didn’t want to spend the money it would cost to transfer it.

    Change is good, though!

  • Yeah, they charged $40 to port over your old number. In the past, I would have done that, but I’m trying to be more frugal these days and I couldn’t bring myself to spend $40 to save $45 a month. I just kept thinking about how that first month’s savings would be gone.
