For over a month now, I’ve been watching what I eat and drink. The good news is that I’m shedding weight and slowly getting fit again. Back at the end of June, I peaked at an all-time high weight for me of two hundred and thirty-five pounds. I knew it wasn’t good, and it didn’t look good. All that travel last year certainly didn’t help, but I used it as an excuse to let myself get even bigger. By the time I had my physical in mid-July, I had already lost about seven or eight pounds.
I’m now down another dozen pounds since then, for a total of nineteen pounds so far. This is the lightest I’ve been since around 2005 or so. I still have a way to go, but this is all from simple adjustments. I love food. I love to consume vast amounts of it. That’s not happening now. I’m also not drinking any alcohol during the week, which also helps. I feel a lot better than I did just about seven or eight weeks ago.
The next step is more exercise. I’ve actually been partly jogging to and from the office every day for a while now, and it’s getting easier. I’m also enjoying it. So this week — hopefully tomorrow (not sure morning or evening) — I’m going jogging for real. There’s a small park within walking distance that I plan on using for now, and we’ll see where this leads me. I need to nuke these high triglycerides, and exercise is one sure-fire way to do so.
